Sweet Potatoes :: Week 6

Not much new to report with the sweet potatoes, other than they continue to grow. Hopefully some of the sprouts will be ready to snap off and root in the next week or two.

I'm restarting my potatoes after my fiasco last week. Any tips on speeding up the process or advice on how to go about planting them?

Lindsie-
I think that your idea of putting them in a warm oven was a great one. I would probably try that again. Sometimes when I have something "working" in the oven, I will put a post it note by the on button with a caution. If you do this, I would take them out shortly after they start to sprout to get them some natural light, but it seems that the oven light and heat would be a great idea to get it started.

You can probably wait a month or a bit longer until they need to be planted. I don't think I planted mine until a bit into June last year, and I got some potatoes. If you are able to root them inside, just follow my tips that I will show. If not, you can put the shoots directly into the garden and place a milk jug greenhouse over them. I'll write more about that later. . .

Best of luck!!

Thanks for the tips. I'll give the oven a try and put something over the on button :)
